Assessment

Production Reports - Total 30% (Equivalent 1,500 words)
Students are required to demonstrate understanding and application of skills in collaboration with colleagues, problem solving, conflict resolution and communication by producing three short reports at predetermined dates or milestones.
These reports may be coordinated with the end of specific phases of production and are to focus on potential or actual team collaboration and communication issues and identify appropriate approaches to resolving them.
The reports are expected to be derived from content included in the students ongoing Production Journal and may be delivered as written documents, verbal reports or in electronic form as a weblog, video diary or in any other appropriate form as negotiated with relevant staff.
Production Journal - 30% (Equivalent 1,500 words)
Throughout the animation screen production students keep a daily Production Journal discussing events, processes and personal responses and reflections. The Production Journal is to be submitted at the end of the subject but should be reviewed at intervals throughout the semester.
The Production Journal should demonstrate collaboration and management skills, including critical evaluation of self, cast, crew and the production process.
Students are assessed on their role in every project on which they crew and on their evaluation of themselves as both manager (producer/director) and crew member. The Production Journal may take the form of a written or electronic document e.g. a diary/scrapbook, video diary or weblog or in any other appropriate form as negotiated with relevant staff.
Students produce, direct and complete the bulk of animation for an animation screen project in any medium by a specified date. Some work is to be completed by other crew under the direction of the student. This work may include some, but not the majority, of the animation. The final project elements must conform to a specified quality and format and be delivered in an appropriate form for use in a post-production environment. This may include data DVDs, CDs, external hard drives, video cassettes or other storage media containing high quality image sequences and/or digital video and audio files.
The effective use of naming conventions, tracking charts, file management procedures including version control processes etc. are assessed at this point. Additionally students are required to provide a written description of their screen project materials archiving plan.
